Frequently Asked Question About Surgery
Will it hurt?
No, you will be asleep under general anesthetic during most procedures, ensuring you are comfortable and do not feel pain. Local anaesthetic is also added to ensure your recovery is as comfortable and pain free as possible. The highly specialised techniques used at the Centre, virtually eliminate the problem of post-operative nausea ensuring a comfortable recovery. These modern anaesthetics are also extraordinarily safe. And, to further increase safety, we conduct a full medical examination to ensure your fitness for the anaesthetic and the surgery.
How soon can I get back to work?
It depends greatly on the procedure, but on average, most plastic surgery patients are back to work within 7 to 14 days.
Will every one know?
It depends. Many procedures are small changes that look natural and often go relatively unnoticed. Friends may ask if you've been on vacation, a new diet or exercise regime but typically, they won't know unless you tell them. Extreme makeovers are becoming increasingly common. These patients undergo substantial and noticeable change with the aim being that everyone knows.
How long will it last?
Procedures that focus on making you look younger, such as face lift, brow lift, eyelid surgery usually can last 10 years or more. Procedures that reshape or modify the size or shape of an imbalance, such as surgery of the nose, chin, cheek augmentation or breast enhancement or breast reduction offer more permanent benefits.
Will there be scars? Will they be noticeable?
Probably not. Your surgeon makes every effort to keep scars as minimal as possible and hides them in the natural lines and creases of your skin. Any scarring will also fade over time, generally becoming barely noticeable.
How long does it take?
Most procedures are performed in our accredited and registered day surgery facility and most patients are able to return home later the same day.
